SPECIAL EVENTS

New York is filled with things to do—many of them once-in-a-lifetime, only-in-New York kinds of events. Many visitors who come to the city don’t think to check local listings in advance for these types of short-term events and only find out about them when it’s too late.

So, the goal of this page is to let you know as far in advance as possible when something is happening so that locals and visitors alike can get tickets or make reservations in advance.

And, it’s good to know when big events are happening in the city, so you know what neighborhoods to avoid. For example, when Pope Benedict XVI visits New York in April, there will be a ticketed mass at Yankee Stadium on April 20. But the Pope will also visit other major New York City landmarks in private events, such as the United Nations (April 18), St. Patrick’s Cathedral (April 19), and the World Trade Center site (April 20).

As we discover the best events upcoming, we’ll post them on our blog, so check it frequently or subscribe to the feed.
